My name is Adila and I am a final year Psychology student at Coventry University. I started my work placement here at Camino Healthcare at the beginning of 2016, it’s certainly been an exciting experience that has allowed me to showcase my skills and learn lots of new ones too.
I am part of a team lead by a Chartered and Registered Forensic Psychologist, but I also help out in other areas where I can, whether it’s working with the Activities Manager, Nurses, or Health Care Support Staff. The goal is to help Service Users on their personal journey of recovery.
We get to join in on the fun too, I’ve helped set-up sport activities, celebrations and mindfulness events, it’s all beneficial in the Psychology environment. I have also had the chance to see a variety of key assessments put into practice, such as the Multimodal Life History Questionnaire, The Beck Depression Inventory and The Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale – to name a few.
In the future I would like to pursue a career in clinical Psychology, volunteering here at Camino Healthcare gives me the skills and experience I will need to achieve this. Students here are looked after and are given the opportunity to delve into new and exciting tasks that will help them in their future working environment. It is a great atmosphere and I cannot wait to see what my remaining few month here will bring!
