MB, a Service User at one of our West Midlands based Mental Health Rehabilitation Units, shared her experience of life at the facility, providing us with an insight into how she feels she has progressed on her personal journey of recovery. Read on and find out what she has to say:
“I started off as a confused girl and came here really unwell thinking I couldn’t get better. But then, things started to change. I came off one-to-one support, I began speaking to my family more, but most importantly I was tidying up.
“I learnt a lot of skills for someone who had little experience, but I turned into a natural-pro.
“It has helped me with my main goal, which is to go back back home from here.
“My advice for someone coming to rehab is, don’t get better for others but get better for yourself.”
Everyone has different needs, so we shape every aspect of care and daily living to the individual, whatever it may be. In our mental health rehabilitation units we implement a holistic person-centred approach whilst embracing the recovery concept.
